About the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS)

The National Youth Parliament Scheme is an ambitious educational program run by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India. The program was first introduced in 1966 with the goal of strengthening the roots of democracy and familiarizing the younger generation with the workings of India's parliamentary institutions.

The primary objective of this initiative is to instill democratic values, constitutional understanding, and leadership qualities in students. By simulating parliamentary sessions, the scheme provides students with a hands-on experience of working in a legislative environment. Participants learn to:

  • Understand Parliamentary Procedures: They get to practice important parliamentary processes like the Question Hour, debates, and the introduction of bills.

  • Develop Public Speaking and Debating Skills: The platform encourages students to articulate their views on national and social issues confidently and persuasively.

  • Cultivate Discipline and Tolerance: Students learn to respect different viewpoints and engage in constructive discussion, which are essential traits for a healthy democracy.

  • Foster Leadership Qualities: The program helps in developing leadership skills and a sense of civic responsibility among the youth.

The Solapur Edition: A Glimpse into the Future of Democracy

During the Kishore Sabha in Solapur, the participating students demonstrated various parliamentary procedures with remarkable discipline, confidence, and thorough preparation. Their presentations on the Question Hour, motions, and the introduction of bills were not just impressive but also showcased a profound understanding of the issues. All the dignitaries present praised the students for their mature thinking and effective presentation skills, highlighting their potential as future leaders.

The program's success in Solapur is a testament to the dedication of the organizers and participants. Special support was provided by Mr. Gurushant Dada Guttargaonkar and Principal Sudhir Dhulam Sir for the seamless execution of the event.

The program's success was also largely due to the selfless and dedicated contributions of volunteers Kaushik Yerzhal, Abhishek Gobbur, Aditya Mhamane, Dhanesh Kansume, Vishwajeet Andhalkar, Samarth Sherkhane, and Shivshankar Durshetti. Their hard work ensured the event was well-organized and successful, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.e
