NATIONAL YOUTH PARLIAMENT
The National Youth Parliament is a flagship civic engagement initiative of the Hiremath Foundation, designed to cultivate democratic values, constitutional awareness, leadership, and active citizenship among young people. Through realistic simulations of parliamentary proceedings, the initiative provides students with a platform to understand the functioning of legislative institutions while developing essential skills in public speaking, critical thinking, policy analysis, debate, negotiation, and decision-making.
Inspired by the principles of parliamentary democracy, the program encourages participants to deliberate on contemporary national and social issues in a structured and disciplined environment that reflects the functioning of legislative bodies. Students assume the roles of Members of Parliament, Ministers, the Speaker, and other parliamentary functionaries, enabling them to gain first-hand experience of parliamentary procedures, governance, and the legislative process.
The initiative aims to foster informed and responsible youth leadership by promoting constitutional values, respect for diverse perspectives, ethical decision-making, teamwork, and civic responsibility. Beyond parliamentary simulations, the program also includes orientation sessions, leadership workshops, expert interactions, and awareness activities that deepen participants' understanding of democracy, governance, and public policy.
Hiremath Foundation collaborates with schools, colleges, universities, educational institutions, and partner organizations to organize National Youth Parliament sessions, ensuring that young citizens are provided with meaningful opportunities to engage with democratic institutions and contribute towards nation-building. Through this initiative, the Foundation seeks to inspire a generation of confident, informed, and socially responsible leaders who are committed to strengthening India's democratic values and shaping a better future.
